Air Conditioner – Information

The air conditioner is not a new thing in today’s world. Yes, it can definitely be called an amazing discovery. Which is one of the most demanded in today’s time. The increasing temperature day by day is forcing everyone to live with AC. Global warming is affecting the whole world.

Full form of AC – Air Conditioner

What is the function of AC?

The air conditioner does the cooling, lowers the temperature. Just as the function of a heater is to heat, so the function of an air conditioner is to cool. We can install an air conditioner according to our requirements. Lowers the temperature of the area where we have applied cools the area.

How does Air Conditioner work?

To know how the air conditioner works, we have to understand each and every part of it. You have to know what is the function of each part.

Main parts of the air conditioner.

1) Evaporator

2) Compressor

3) Refrigerant

4) Condenser

5) Expansion Valve

Evaporator Coil in Air conditioner

Evaporator Coil in Air conditioner

The evaporator has a tube coil. Which is made from the copper tube in a “U” shape. It draws out the heat of the room. Heat absorbs. This happens in the indoor unit of AC. It uses refrigerant gas. The use of HCF (Hydro Fluoro Carbon) in refrigerant gas is better.

The specialty of this gas is that it pulls the heat from its surroundings. At the same time, it also removes the moisture. This gas is also better for the atmosphere than other gas.

Remember – any home appliance is a guest of at least 8 to 10 years in our house. If a mistake is made while buying then you can have to suffer for 10 years.

Compressor in Air conditioner

Compressor in Air conditioner

Compressor plays an important role in air conditioner system. The compressor that compresses. Hot air from the evaporator coil goes to the compressor. Due to this, the gas becomes very hot. This hot gas goes from the compressor to the condenser. Where the condenser does further work.

According to Boyle’s and Charles’ law, when pressure is increased, the temperature increases. That is why when we increase the pressure of the refrigerant, the temperature increases. And that is the main job of the compressor.

Refrigerant in Air conditioner

Refrigerant in Air conditioner

This is known as coolant. This is a special fluid, which plays an important role in the air conditioner. It works in a closed-loop circuit. Takes the heat of our room outside the room.

Air conditioners have copper tubes on the inside and the outside. The refrigerant works through these tubes.

The refrigerant draws the hot air inside the room and lets it out. Converts gas into a liquid. One process is that the cold air is spread inside the room through the fan. This cycle goes on.

Expansion Valve in Air conditioner

Expansion Valve in Air conditioner

The expansion valve is placed between two coils. In which one coil is very hot and one is cold. As the refrigerant moves from the condenser to the liquid form, the heat is reduced. Despite this, it is somewhat hot.

It is necessary to cool it before going into the evaporator coil. That is why the expansion valve is installed in the middle.

Using the combined gas principle. When the pressure is reduced, the temperature decreases. The expansion valve lowers the pressure of the refrigerant and cools it. Due to this the air found in our room cools down and the temperature of the room works.

Condenser Coil in Air conditioner

Condenser Coil in Air conditioner

The condenser coil in the air conditioner resides outdoor. It acts as a hit exchanger. In this, very high-temperature steam comes from the compressor. Its main job is to cool it.

The work of Evaporator and Condenser is opposite to each other. The refrigerant is cooled in the evaporator and the refrigerant is heated in the condenser.

The condenser lowers the temperature of the steam and converts it into cold air or water. Which is used as a cooling medium.

The condenser converts the refrigerant vapor compressed by the compressor into a liquid.

Remember – Do not call for the service of any home appliance when only a woman or only children is in the house.

Which gas is used in Air conditioners?

CFC -Chloro Fluoro Carbon and HCFC -Hydro Chlorofluorocarbon were used as refrigerants in Air Conditioner. Earlier only CFC was used which is also called freon gas.

The CFC gas was converted to HCFC (Hydro Chlorofluorocarbon) and began to be used. HCFC It is a better refrigerant than CFC. But it harms the environment more. That is why now HFC (Hydro Fluoro Carbon) is used. Which proves to be better than HCFC. R-401A is the most common HFC.

Apart from this, R-290 is also used in HFC. Which is based on hydrocarbon propane. Its functionality is also good and it is also better for the environment.

What should be the temperature of Air conditioners?

The temperature of AC should be in the range of 25-27 degrees. Which will also reduce the burden on our pockets and will also be good for our health.

Generally, people keep the temperature of AC very low. Between 16 to 20 degrees. Actually, if we look at our bodies and our environment, this temperature can harm us.

The temperature of the air conditioner should also be different at night than during the day. Because the temperature is lower at night than during the day, we can set more AC settings.

Maintaining the temperature of the air conditioner from 25 to 27 degrees has two benefits.

  1. Firstly, it will not have any bad effect on your body.
  2. Secondly, our electricity bill will come down.

What to do after installing Air conditioners?

  1. Get the AC service done once a year.
  2. Get the AC service done by a good artisan only.
  3. The window doors should be opened once a day to avoid the risk of gas leakage.
  4. While opening the window and door, the AC should be turned off, it has an effect on the electricity bill.
  5. If the gas filling has to be done, then definitely see the quality of the gas.

Remember – BEE star rating must be checked while buying home appliances. Five stars are more expensive than three stars. But if you think for a long time, then you should take only five stars. Which brings less electricity bill.

How many hours should the Air conditioners run?

This question is in the mind of many people. By the way, we have brought AC only for running. That is why even if you run it for 24 hours, it will work, but the effect of it is also taken care of.

We buy AC to make our life more comfortable. But there is not much rest that we get used to it and have to face the consequences.

We have to maintain the temperature. That is why our house or room where AC is installed, what is the effect of the temperature of the environment should be seen.

If we run AC for 24 hours, then our immunity power can be reduced.

If the room is closed for 24 hours, there may be a lack of oxygen there.

In our country, AC is needed only during the summer days. To maintain the temperature during this hot summer, one should walk for a few hours a day.

What to keep in mind before buying Air conditioners?

Remember, any home appliance is a guest of at least 8 to 10 years in our house. If a mistake is made while buying then you can have to suffer for

10 years.

  • First of all, what is the size of the room where we have to install Air conditioners?.
  • For how many people this air conditioner is going to be used.
  • What is the type of air circulation in the room?
  • How many electrical appliances are run in the room where AC is to be run.
  • How much stuff is kept in the room?

In this article on Air Conditioner, the points given above tell us how much capacity AC should be bought based on your requirements.

How many stars AC should be bought?

When we go to buy AC, there is a star mark on it. Like three stars, five stars, etc.

AC of three stars rating will be available at a cost less than five stars rating. But will consume more power. That is why only five stars should be considered.

Nowadays AC with VFD is also available in new technology. Its price is also higher than non-inverter AC. But this one-time investment can benefit you further.

Different Between Inverter AC and Non-Inverter AC?

Both the AC’s are similar in appearance. It will not be known from the look that this AC is inverter or non-inverter.

The biggest advantage of using Inverter AC is the power consumption. The Non-Inverter AC consumes more power as compared to Inverter AC.

In a non-inverter, the compressor runs at a constant speed. Inverter AC runs at variable speed. Here electricity is saved.

The compressor is on-off in a non-inverter. The temperature is uneven. In an inverter AC, the temperature is maintained at the set point.

Instant cooling is available in normal AC. Whereas it takes more time for cooling in inverter AC starters.

Due to the increasing technology, the company’s attention is more towards inverter AC. The starting price is high. But the power saving is awesome. That is why the choice of more people nowadays is inverter AC.

Inverter AC has a higher maintenance cost as compared to non-inverter AC.

Compressor warranty in normal AC is 2 to 5 years. Compressor warranty in Inverter AC is 10 years.

R-22 gas is used in normal non-inverter AC. It pollutes the environment.

R – 32 and R – 410 A are used in inverter AC. This gas does not harm the atmosphere.

Types of AC – Types of Air Conditioner?

1) Split AC

Split AC is more prevalent nowadays. It consists of two units, one indoor and one outdoor. The indoor unit fits inside the room and the outdoor fits outside.

The indoor unit draws hot air out of the room. The outdoor unit consists of a compressor and a fan.

 2) Window AC

Window AC is fitted across the wall. Mostly the window itself is preferred to fit it. This AC is good at cooling but the sound is more than split AC.

3)Portable AC

This type of Air Conditioner is available in less capacity. Where it is fine for a small room or small office. Most are available in the capacity of 1 ton.

4) Cassette AC

This type of AC is installed in the ceiling. This type of AC is more used in any big hole, hotel, or big building. It also looks good and its sound does not affect it either.

What to keep in mind while doing AC service?

1) Do not call if there are only ladies in the house for the service of any home appliance.

2) In AC service, both the indoor and outdoor units are serviced. That is why when you install AC, it should be easy to service it in the same way.

3) While applying AC, also see that we have to keep it away from the dust.

4) Nowadays there is a market for AC, that’s why even if the serviceman is hasty, then stop him. Most of the time, they do cleaning by just hitting the water. this is not right.

5) Get the filter cleaned by opening the indoor unit. And clean the dust inside.

6) AC is a load-powered device, so get the tightness of the electric connection checked.

7) Open the cover of the outdoor unit and get it cleaned. Most people do not open this cover.

8) Get the fins of the outdoor unit cleaned with water and air. Keep in mind that the fins should not be jammed and bent.

9) It is better if dust cleaner spray is used instead of oil while cleaning the rotor of the fan.

10) There is a compressor and a fan in the outdoor, check its electrical connection tightness.

11) Get the gas leakage and tightness checked in the copper tube.

12) Do not replace any part of the o’clock without taking care, otherwise, its charge will have to be paid separately.
